Since 2013, I have been managing various services with the majority of that time spent as head manager of a 123 capacity centre with 32 staff. This was a part of the same company in which until recently I had 9 years’ service. Previous to that I had taught all ages with a focus being on the 3-5 year age group.
I have been a part of Australia’s version of Ofsted twice, with the process and outcomes very similar in style. Once was as the head manager in which we received an outstanding rating and the second time as a consultant manager in which we received another outstanding rating.
I have a strong passion for training and mentoring with a preference for a hands on management style. You will most likely find me in the rooms improving practice and interacting with the children while I always make myself available for parents in the afternoon period.
We also have a huge, wonderful garden space where the children can explore freely with their friends and find creepy crawlies - and we’ve included lots of information about all of our facilities on our Our Nursery page, and lots of photos of our children at play throughout our website. Thank you to our parents for giving us permission to share these photos.
Our philosophy and childcare practice
We explain our philosophy and approach to childcare in detail on our Caring For Your Child page. I think that this is particularly important, as not every West Norwood nursery operates in the same way. We explain our ‘Key Person Approach’ and how this enables us to know both you and your child really well – and better meet your child’s needs. We also explain how our nursery and outdoor environments contribute to your child’s development with us.
Here at Chapel House we have a great partnership with parents – working very closely to ensure that we are meeting their needs. I believe in creating a warm, caring and friendly environment, where children and families feel cared for and valued - and where they can feel ‘at home’. As our children’s primary educators, the relationships we build with parents are as important as our relationships with their children. These relationships help children to feel safe and secure - leaving them free to immerse themselves in play and enjoy their time at nursery.
We’ve included as much useful information as possible here on our website. You’ll find much of it on our Parent Information page. I believe we’re the only West Norwood nursery to open from 7.30am – 6.00pm, Monday – Friday for 51 weeks of the year (we close during Christmas week), and offer a variety of sessions to meet most family’s individual needs - at competitive prices. We also offer FREE childcare places for 2, 3 and 4 year old children, and include free nappies and wipes and nutritious ‘home cooked’ lunches and teas – the details of which are all explained on our Parent Information page.
The best day nursery in West Norwood
It’s natural to be proud of your nursery when you strive with a team to provide wonderful care to children every day - and I’m no exception. I truly believe that Chapel House is the best nursery in West Norwood. I hope you feel that our parent testimonials bear this out - and you may also enjoy reading our latest OFSTED Report.
Finally, while we regard Chapel House as a West Norwood nursery, and we have many parents who use us from local areas such as Norwood, Norwood Junction, Upper Norwood and South Norwood – we are also popular with parents from as far afield as Crystal Palace, Dulwich, West Dulwich, Streatham, Streatham Hill, Crown Point, Thornton Heath, Herne Hill, Tulse Hill, Brixton and Camberwell. You’ll find a map showing our location on our Contact Us page - as well as our contact details. I encourage you to take the time to explore our website to discover more about our nursery. I would also encourage you to call us on 0208 766 0246 - or pop in - when we can arrange for you to have a look around and see for yourself the great things we have to offer you and your children.
